Knowledge comes by reading and studying. A person who does not study cannot grow in understanding. God wants His children to seek knowledge, especially the knowledge of His Word. Daniel was a man who loved God and sought understanding through prayer, reading, and studying. Because of this, God revealed great mysteries to him.
We are powerless without knowledge. Many people suffer because they do not know what God has said concerning them. Knowledge gives direction, wisdom, and strength. When we know God's Word, we can stand firm in difficult times and avoid deception. Daniel received wisdom and understanding because he desired to know God's will.
The books of Daniel and Revelation are known as apocalyptic books of the Bible. They contain visions and prophecies about future events and the end times. In Daniel 12, God showed Daniel some of the things that would happen before the end of the age. The chapter speaks about a time of trouble, the deliverance of God's people, the resurrection of the dead, and the reward that awaits the righteous.
One beautiful lesson from Daniel 12 is that God knows those who belong to Him. Even in difficult times, He will preserve and protect His people. This reminds us that we should remain faithful to God no matter what is happening around us.
Daniel 9:9 tells us that "to the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness." God is a merciful God, always willing to forgive those who come to Him sincerely. At the same time, He is a consuming fire and a righteous Judge. His mercy should not make us careless, but should encourage us to live holy and obedient lives.
Daniel 12 also teaches us that life on earth is not the end. We all have an allotted inheritance waiting for us after this life. In Daniel 12:13, God told Daniel, "Go your way till the end, for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days." This was God's promise that Daniel's faithfulness would be rewarded.
The same promise applies to believers today. If we remain faithful to God, serve Him wholeheartedly, and endure to the end, we have a glorious inheritance awaiting us in eternity. Therefore, let us continue to seek knowledge, study God's Word, trust in His mercy, and live with the hope of the inheritance He has prepared for His children.
